7th Chords

7th chords are triads with an added 7th scale degree on top. There are six types of 7th chords:
·Major
·Minor
·Major-Minor (aka Dominant)
·Augmented
·Diminished
·Half Diminished

Major 7th Chords:

The major 7 chord is a major triad with a major third up top.

C Major 7 Chord

Minor 7th Chords:

To construct a minor 7 chord take a minor triad and add another minor third on top.

C Minor 7 Chord

Major-Minor (Dominant) 7th Chords:

The major-minor, aka dominant, 7 chord is a major triad with a minor third stacked on top of it. It is used a lot in the blues.
